The Yachting is Omega’s evolution on the classic ‘Regatta Timer’ function, which enabled enthusiasts and professionals to accurately time the beginning of their Yacht races, and thus cross the start line at the most opportune moment. Omega, being the fastidious manufacturer that they are decided to improve on the classic formula and developed this reference, which is not only useable during racing starts, but over longer cruises too. In addition to the mechanical complications, Omega fitted the ‘Yachting’ with a reinforced crystal, for maximum resistance to impact from helm-spokes, booms or other obstacles often found on your racing Yacht.

Originally sold in the Greek Islands in 1972 (painting a particularly exotic image of this watch’s likely history), this rare vintage chronograph is yet another example of Omega's quiet excellence as a sports watch manufacturer. The heavily bevelled case is superbly wearable and the deep blue sunburst dial imparts a level of depth and detail to the dial that's seldom seen in sports watches of this era. The original Omega 1162 Bracelet (in near new condition), grey Tropic strap and Extract of the Archives will all be included for the new owner. There are some small marks across the previously polished case, and the original dial is showing a nice balance of patina.
